This week, we’re thrilled to welcome Jamison Powell to the Bigleaf team as our new Channel Sales Manager for the Southwest (TX, NM, OK, KS, or MO). With nearly 20 years of experience ranging from traditional MPLS to SD-WAN, Jamison will be a valuable resource for our partners and customers alike.
Jamison Powell graduated from The University of Texas Arlington with a degree in computer science. From there he dove into the data center world. He started at Layered Technologies as a Support Engineer. After a stint working his way up in the support engineer world, Jamison transitioned to sales, selling private Cloud infrastructure.
Since 2010, Jamison has been selling in the networking space, seeing the transition from MPLS to SD-WAN. From this, he has created an emphasis in his career to bridge the gap between older traditional technology and new-age technology.
In 2014, Jamison moved towards enterprise selling and joined Windstream Enterprise. This gave him a broader portfolio of services to work from. Jamison started noticing the gap in technology and implementation in these larger deployments of SD-WAN. The perception of SD-WAN and the reality of ease of install were two different things. So, he took the leap to come to Bigleaf Networks because of the turnkey architecture and technology that bridges the gap in technology and implementation.
We hope you’ll join us in welcoming Jamison to the team. If you’re headquartered in TX, NM, OK, KS, or MO you can reach Jamison through our sales email (firstname.lastname@example.org). In the meantime, you can learn a little more about Jamison in the Q&A below.
Q: What is your background?
A: I have a background in IT with an emphasis on bridging the gap between older traditional practices with new-age technology. I graduated with a degree in computer science and then took that experience into the data center world.
After that, I went into sales selling Private cloud infrastructure.
From that point, I moved to Windstream where I cut my teeth with a larger broader portfolio of services. This experience is what brought me to Bigleaf.
Q: What attracted you to the SD-WAN market?
A: Having some experience with larger deployments of MPLS networks. I was able to experience the transition to SD-WAN and saw an opportunity that would lay out the land for the next 15-20 years.
Q: What interested you in joining Bigleaf Networks?
A: I saw a gap in the market. After experiencing larger deployments of Enterprise networks showed that the gap between technology and implementation was lacking. The public perception of SD-WAN was that it was plug and play, however, the actual experience was far from that.
Seeing how well Bigleaf’s architecture and technology allowed for a turnkey experience was a no brainer.
Q: What is one thing you would want to know about you?
A: I excel in uncomfortable conversations and situations. I have no ego and love to learn.
Q: Where do you live?
A: Arlington/Dallas, TX
Q: What’s your favorite thing to do besides work?
A: I love to get outside and get active. I enjoy all sports, hunting, and especially golf. I also enjoy spending my time with my wife, Keisha, and our Shih Tzu/Yorkie mix, Dior.
